  6. This distribution is a demonstration version of FamilyConnections version
  7. 3.5.  See the "What's new" files for improvements and corrections since the
  8. earlier versions.

  10. The program requires that you be using version AmigaDOS version 2.04 or later
  11. to operate it.  Otherwise, it should operate on any model of Amiga computer.
  12. Printed reports require a printer capable of both portrait and landscape
  13. orientation printing;  landscape orientation is required only for certain of
  14. the report forms.
  15.  
  16. The program is a commercial product and is not public domain nor freeware.
  17. This demonstration version may be freely-distributed in its entirety.

  19. The program is fully functional except that the number of people you may
  20. track is limited to about 20 instead of the program's full capability of
  21. upwards of 32000 (possibly up to 65533) and the Gedcom input process is
  22. disabled.
  23.  
  24. This demo version of FamilyConnections does not include the user manual but
  25. it is felt that the operation is reasonably obvious.  For those who find the
  26. program to be useful, a fully operational version may be obtained from
  27. the author.

  29.             Capabilities
  30.             ------------
  31.  
  32. FamilyConnections provides for maintaining information about a virtually
  33. unlimited number of people per family.  A person's name, sex, marital
  34. status, place and date of birth, present location (address or place of
  35. interment), parents, and spouse(s) may be entered and displayed.  Notes
  36. containing additional information about the people may also be included.
  37. No provision is made for explicitly entering baptism, confirmation, immi-
  38. gration dates, occupation, etc. although such information may be placed in
  39. the notes.
  40.  
  41. "Navigation" of a family's information is a matter of simply double-clicking
  42. on the line containing a person's name.  The information about the selected
  43. person will then be displayed.
  44.  
  45. Various reports and listings can be produced from a family's data including
  46. pedigree, family group record, and Ahnentafel charts and a listing of all
  47. the people in a family.  The Gedcom file which may be produced by Family-
  48. Connections has been validated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
  49. Saints for submission to their Family History data base.
  50.  
  51. The program can be initiated from either the Workbench or CLI.  The former
  52. is accomplished by clicking on the FamilyConnections icon while the latter
  53. is performed by entering "FamilyConnections [<family name>]".  Once a fam-
  54. ily's data has been created, later access to it is by means of clicking on
  55. the icon sporting the family name or specifying the family name in the CLI
  56. command.
  57.
